Job Purpose
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for logistics, specifically transportation, delivery, and receipt of procured goods, services, and personnel
Job Description
- Execute logistics operations for the project activities, strictly following all rules and regulations under local law, organizational policies and procedures, and donor requirements
- As directed by the Procurement and Logistics Specialist, review and recommend changes to logistics policies and procedures, as needed
- Maintain records related to logistics management
- Provide guidance on delivery of goods and services to the project and beneficiaries in line with the grant requirements
- Work with local, national, and international vendors of goods and services to ensure quality and maintain the professional distance required to ensure high ethical standards
- Coordinate delivery logistics with the Project Unit and/or grantees to obtain the required permits including delivery receipts
- Coordinate transportation, permits, authorizations, insurance, loading and unloading of goods/materials, and financial allocation or related expenses under grant activities
- Prepare budgets, solicit quotations, negotiate, conduct analysis, and recommend vendors for delivery of goods and materials to grantees
- Perform other tasks, as assigned
Competencies Required
- University degree with a major in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, engineering, commerce, law, procurement, etc.)
- At least three years of general work experience with at least two years of logistics experience is required
- Experience with budgeting and cost analysis is required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc. is required.
- Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices governing procurement, including VFM, strategic sourcing, market analysis, contract management, etc.
- High level of integrity
- Ability to deal sensitively in a multicultural environment and build effective working relations with clients and colleagues.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to develop tracking systems is required
- Strong communication skills and the ability to function well in a team setting is required
- Good interpersonal skills and persuasiveness in presenting, discussing, and resolving highly complex issues, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to solve challenging and complicated administrative issues is required
